Development work unfortunately slowed down over the holiday period, as I backpacked around Asia (to celebrate the end of my University degree) and Mat spent time with his family.

The main focus of this release was to fix long-standing bugs, improve the reliability of the application and bring the interface up to date. With this solid basis, we’re now implementing some exciting new features!

Highlights of the release:

  • Universal Binary support (many people have asked for this)
  • A flexible measurement unit system - define new units, plurals and even conversion rates
  • The main portion of the interface has been re-written for greater speed and reliability. We’ve shoved thousands of recipes into Connoisseur and it performs much better!
  • French localisation (thanks to Pierre Biannic)
  • Last, but not least, the entire interface has received an overhaul. We feel it’s a lot more modern and aesthetically pleasing. We hope you agree!

It seems there were a few hidden configuration details with the old web host that were not transferred across to the new one. Recipes could not be downloaded or decompressed as a result.

We have released Connoisseur 1.1.8 to work around this. Thanks to Duncan Meredith for pointing out this problem to us!

Unfortunately, this version is not a Universal Binary. A large amount of work (and testing) would be required to make this version run natively on Intel Macs, which I am not comfortable in doing (for the stability of the program). Despite this, Connoisseur will still run on Intel machines.

We don’t expect any hiccups in the process, and everything should be pointing to the new server within 24 hours.

UPDATE: There were a few issues with some Netflix-related files, but the website has been transitioned across successfully!

It incorporates a swath of changes and new code but we feel it is our best release to date. Some new features include video playback, support for podcasts, support for multiple iPods and it is now a universal binary.

iPodRip 3.9 also integrates further with our updated online support section and will warn you if it thinks there is a possibility of damage being done to your iPod.

Please look forward to more frequent iPodRip releases into the future.

Edit: Oops, we made a boo boo with the registration. 3.9.1 has been shipped out to rectify it.
